Research interests

Rab GTPases that control integrin trafficking are linked to cancer. Our work aims for a full description of the molecular machinery that coordinates integrin traffic during cell migration as these may represent novel targets for anti-metastatic drugs. Integrin trafficking may also guide mRNA to ribosomes associated with the protrusive regions of metastatic cells, and thus localise the synthesis of pro-migratory proteins. A major aim of our research is to characterise the mechanisms by which integrin-associated proteins command mRNA transport and translation during the invasive migration of cancer cells.
