Chris joined the Adam Smith Business School as a Lecturer in Accounting, Tax and Audit in 2019. He completed his BAcc Accountancy (Hons), MRes Sociology & Research Methods, and PhD in Accounting at the University of Glasgow.

Chris has broad research interests in accounting professionalisation, professional socialisation, and career development. His current research investigates equality, diversity and inclusion within the accountancy profession in the UK. This research focuses on accountants’ experiences of social mobility and the influence of socioeconomic background on career trajectories.

Chris is interested in developing inclusive approaches to teaching and learning. He is currently involved in scholarship projects around developing students’ graduate skills.

Chris is a member of the Accounting research cluster.

He has been a member of the British Accounting and Finance Association EDI Monitoring Group since 2021 and a member of the editorial review board for Accounting Education since 2022.
