Academic and personal support
Each degree programme here at Glasgow is taught within a school and each school is based in one of four colleges – Arts, Social Science, Science & Engineering or Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences.
Each College has a team of Advisors of Study and you will be assigned one when you start. They are there to help you with a wide range of queries, support needs and guidance so should be one of your first ports of call.
The For Students have Effective Learning Advisors plus specific Maths & Academic Writing support staff to help you develop new and improve existing important academic skills and abilities with a wide range of drop-in sessions, workshops and tools to help you succeed.
The SRC through its network of class reps, sabbatical officers and VPs for Welfare, Education, Student Support and Activities ensure that you are represented at all levels. The SRC Advice Centre, 2nd hand bookshop, clubs, societies and student media are all great ways to discover sources of help, advice, networks and friends.
Our Ask a Student service lets you receive invaluable advice and information from our current students on anything to do with studying and living in Glasgow. The service puts you into email contact with current students who have successfully completed their first year of study so is a great way to get an insider’s view on how the University works and gain some practical tips to help you through your degree.
