Stephen's ambition
My name is Stephen English. I’m from Glasgow and currently studying second year History.
My ambition is to provide a platform for underrepresented LGBTQ+ talent to perform – to express themselves through an artform that they love.
Through my ambition I would not only wish to add to the discussion of issues facing the LGBTQ+ community but raise awareness and money for charities that help the community This ambition is important to me as I believe that the LGBTQ+ community is a diverse and unique one that deserves the same rights, opportunities and experiences as anyone else. I want to separate the individual from the statistic so that these talented people can be the role models they never had and hopefully inspire others to express their most authentic selves.
I believe a strong team is key in order to achieve my ambition. The team will need to accommodate a diverse range of identities and skills, because a project designed for LGBTQ+ people surely should be organised by LGBTQ+ people. I am already trying to act out my ambition with my radio show "Queer Creative:" a show that does exactly what my ambition sets out to do but hopefully with the help of my community my ambition will be much more extensive.
