Reading Coptic 2

This level 2 course builds upon language skills and cultural and historical knowledge acquired at Level 1, and covers the background necessary for students to develop their skills in reading Sahidic Coptic texts (from c.350 CE–750 CE) with increasing fluency and comprehension. On a weekly basis, students will study specific aspects of grammar tailored to allow them to read one or more texts selected from across the whole spectrum of Coptic literature in this period, with particular emphasis on social life in Egypt at this time and the later history of Thebes.
