Ancient Egyptian temples

We will explore the architecture of Ancient Egyptian tombs and temples, and the ideas and practices associated with them. Students will be expected to learn about different types of Egyptian temple, as well as specific temples such as the pyramid complexes of Giza and the temples of Thebes. Particular emphasis will be put on how to use archaeological sites as a source for the study of Ancient Egypt, and on how to interpret archaeological sites in their social and historical context. This course can be taken online; students will be expected to attend class on the date of the class test.
