Nursing and Support Staff Team

 Nursing teamThe nursing team are vital to the round the clock care available at the Small Animal Hospital.  We have an expanding team of 37 nurses who cover the 24 hour window in which we care for your pets.

The team has depth in service and qualifications in their field which is enhanced by an on-going commitment to continuing professional education.

This team is led by Pam McComb and supported by Sam Fontaine.

Samantha Fontaine MSc PGCAP BSc DipAVN(Medical) RVN FHEA

Samantha FontaineSam qualified in 2001and joined the Oncology service within the Small Animal Hospital (SAH) in 2003. Sam worked within this service for many years during which time she successfully gained her RCVS Advanced Diploma in Medicine, a BSc top-up degree in Veterinary Nursing, and an MSc in Veterinary Clinical Sciences investigating the role of C-reactive protein as a biomarker in dogs with lymphoma. Sam is currently a Lecturer and is Director of the MSc Advanced Practice in Veterinary Nursing and Module Leader within the BVMS programme. In addition Sam is the Deputy Nursing Services Manager at the SAH, where she co-manages a team of approximately 60 veterinary nurses and veterinary care assistants. Sam has also delivered CPD to the wider profession on many occasions.
