The School of Veterinary Medicine is to receive a grant from the Academy of Medical Sciences in support of a programme of INSPIRE focused activities.

University of Glasgow to take directorship of EPIC Centre of Excellence

The Scottish Government has today announced the re-commissioning of EPIC, the Pan-Scottish Centre of Expertise on Animal Disease Outbreaks. For the next 5 years EPIC will be led from the University of Glasgow, led by Prof Dominic Mellor (School of Veterinary Medicine) and funds researchers in both the School and the Institute of Biodiversity, Animal Health & Comparative Medicine.

A parasite which kills thousands of people each year in sub-Saharan Africa arose comparatively recently, and its unusual sex life may lead to its own extinction, scientists have found.
