Biography

Linda is an experienced senior economist and economic development professional and Non-Executive Director of the Scottish Regeneration Forum (SURF). Having spent the first part of her early career in academia as a regional economist at University of Strathclyde’s Fraser of Allander Institute, Linda followed on as an economist in the Scottish Government and latterly, as a senior manager in Glasgow City Council.  She commenced her doctoral research between 2013 and 2017.  She holds a PhD in Management from University of Glasgow and an MSc in Regional Economics and a BA Honours in Economics from the University of Strathclyde.

Her extensive academic and social/economic development expertise includes: HMT Green Book business case development; economic policy analysis/modelling; policy and strategy development; designing economic policy monitoring and measurement frameworks; undertaking economic/social appraisal and impact evaluation.  She has led a range of high profile economic programmes, including: the design/implementation of Glasgow’s ‘Benefits Realisation and Evaluation programme’ for social and economic outcomes from the 2014 Commonwealth Games infrastructure programme.  Her evolving research interest span: Urban and Regional Development; Economic Development and Institutional Change; local and regional governance; public policy.
