Research title: Creating well-designed places in Scotland: What does it take

Research Summary

My research focusses on the delivery of urban design quality through the local planning system. Through ethnographic research with a case study planning authority, West Dunbartonshire Council, my project will analyse the negotiation of design outcomes between actors within the development process, and decision-making within planning authorities. My research aims to contribute to theoretical knowledge of urban design and planning governance, while also providing evidence that will support planning and design in practice.
