The 2018 John Smith Centre Parliamentary Internship Programme is now in full swing, with 14 student interns from the College of Social Sciences at the University of Glasgow working alongside host MSPs across the greater Glasgow area.

Meet our 2018 Programme!

Nelson Cummins and Annie Wells MSP at Scottish Parliament‌Our interns are paid above the Living Wage for much sought after work experience with MSPs in both constituency and parliamentary settings. Their placements are also recognised on their official Higher Education Achievement Record (HEAR), positively impacting their employability upon graduation by demonstrating accredited work experience.

Through the only paid internship of its kind in Scotland, the John Smith Centre is committed to breaking down barriers to internship work experience by offering opportunities many students might otherwise find difficult to access due to financial restrictions, a lack of connections and the often inflexible, full-term nature of traditional internship programmes.
