A paper by Joanna Bobynko, one of our PhD students, together with Dr Ian MacLaren and Prof Alan Craven has been named as the most downloaded paper at Ultramicroscopy in the past three months.  This paper, entitled "Spectrum imaging of complex nanostructures using DualEELS: I. digital extraction replicas", shows how to use Dual range Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy to extract the spectroscopic signals of small nanoscale objects from their surroundings for quantitative analysis.  In this work, the technique was used to examine carbide precipitates used to make steel stronger, as part of a project on developing steels for making safer cars.  The paper has been viewed over 2200 times since it was first placed online in November 2014.
