Farewell to Staff in 2017

Farewell to Staff in 2017

Issued: Mon, 11 Dec 2017 10:00:00 GMT

‌‌Dr Maria Cristina Seccia took up a permanent post in Translation Studies at Hull from September 2017. She had joined the Italian Programme in a fixed-term University Teacher post in 2016, subsequently taking on the role of International Mobility course co-ordinator (maternity cover) from early summer 2017. Maria Cristina made a huge contribution to teaching in Italian during her time here, as testified by glowing student feedback, and had become a highly valued colleague in a short period of time. We wish her every success in this next stage of her career.

Dr Karen Benavente, Lecturer in Hispanic Studies, Spanish and Portuguese, in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures, left after a sabbatical in order to continue working at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley where she was a visiting Associate Professor. We hope she is enjoying living and working in her home state again.

Thanks and a fond farewell are also due to all our temporary and short-term contract staff, teachers and administrators alike, who have left SMLC since June, including a big thank-you to all the tutors who came on a seasonal basis to teach on the presessional summer courses and helped them become such a big success.
