The GTRF works closely with NHSGGC Bio-repository which provides researchers access to a wide variety of consented tissue:
- Pathology archive samples
- Surplus diagnostic or surgical tissue
- Bespoke collections of tissue from NHS Scotland patients may have been/or can be collected as part of cohort studies or clinical trials.
The GTRF offers support in the next phase of research, post tissue acquisition. Tissue-based research underpins precision medicine development and the GTRF enables the researcher to develop translational and preclinical aspects of their work through technical services and support. We offer histology services such as sectioning and staining, and unique services such as digital pathology (scanning stained glass slides), image analysis (writing bespoke apps for your research) and Tissue Microarray construction. We work on a full cost recovery basis, which enables us to maintain our technical equipment to a high level ensuring accurate and high-end outputs. Our protocols have been developed in conjunction with the NHS therefore our histology services are at diagnostic level. Please see the relevant section headers for further information on each service we provide.
