Undergraduates

Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health Medical Student Prize

This prize is advertised annually by the RCPCH and is open to final year medical students for nomination to attend their annual conference each year.   Application details for next year's meeting will be circulated towards the end of this year.     Application process requires submission of your CV and personal statement (maximum 1000 words) as well as two supporting references.  References should be provided by a RCPCH member and emailed with your application to Karyn Cooper   Further details can be obtained from Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health

Yorkhill Portfolio Prize

This prize of £750, and Yorkhill Medal,  is awarded annually for the best paediatric portfolio by a final year MB ChB student.  Runner up prize is £250.    Closing date for applications is the first Friday in May each year.

Yorkhill Essay Prize

This prize of of £750 is awarded annually for best essay of 2500 words on any aspect of paediatrics submitted by an MB ChB student in year 1 or 2.  Runner up prize is £250.   Closing date for applications is the first Friday in May each year.

Hall Prize In Child Health

This prize of £500 is awarded annually on the recommendation of the Samson Gemmell Professor of Child Health on the basis of the class examinations and the final professional examination in Child Health for an MB ChB year 5 viva.

Postgraduates 

Harry Stewart Hutchinson Prize

This prize of £500 is awarded annually by Senate and is open to medical clinicians up to fifteen years post-graduation, from a medical school within the commonwealth. Applicants should submit an original piece of research work in a branch of medical science related to children, together with a short personal statement to Karyn CooperPlease note that a substantial proportion of the research work submitted for this prize, should have been performed in Glasgow.   Submissions will be judged by the Samson Gemmell Professor of Child Health and a Senior Clinician in Pathology.  This prize has been awarded for 2019 and will be re-advertised at the beginning of February 2020.

Yorkhill Prize for Postgraduate Research

A first prize of £750 and second prize of £250 will be awarded annually for excellence in the area of paediatrics, for a successfully completed research or audit project in which the author is named first on a peer-reviewed paper in press or published within the year preceding the application.   Prize winner will be determined by the Samson Gemmell Professor of Child Health.   This prize will be open for application early August.
