Research interests

My current research interests include the use of coconut water to aid rehydration and sporting performance.

Use of GPS analysis for monitoring athletes with a special interest in field hockey.

Alongside my role as a Lecturer I am also a practising Sports Scientist with the Scottish Hockey Union.

Teaching

I am a University Lecturer on the Physiology and Sports Science courses. I teach at undergraduate through to Masters level. 

I am course coordinator for the following modules: Performance Enhancing Techniques (Level 4), The World Class Athlete (Masters and online courses)

I have several years' experience in the physiological testing and analysis of athletes: VO2max test, lactate profiles, anthropometrical measures (skinfolds, hydrostatic weighing, bioelectrical impedance). I am an ISAK accredited anthropometrist. I have provided sports science support for athletes in the following sports: football, hockey, boxing and curling from amateur to professional level.
