Delegates from the College of Medicine, Malawi, recently visited the UofG to meet with Professor Jeremy Bagg head of the Dental School, as plans progress towards the introduction of a dental training course in Malawi.
The group, which included the principal of College of Medicine Dr Mwapatsa Mipando, also held meetings with Professor Simon Guild, Head of the School of Life Sciences, and Ian Nicol from the Scottish Government’s International Development team.
Professor Guild’s involvement in Malawi dates back to his work on a Scottish Government-funded project from his time at the University of St Andrews, which developed the education and training of the Country’s healthcare professionals and students.
His role in the curriculum design and delivery of a new Biomedical Sciences degree at the University of Malawi’s College of Medicine, means he’s well positioned to provide support with this exciting new collaborative project.
Professor Jeremy Bagg tweeted:
Great to welcome @ScotGovID Ian Nicol and @UofGSoLS Simon Guild to last day of meetings @UofGDental with colleagues from @unimacom to discuss Malawi Dental School project. Good progress on many fronts! @mphondak pic.twitter.com/8MEcheP6hK— Jeremy Bagg (@bagg_jeremy) March 16, 2018
