Catriona joined the School of Law as a Lecturer in Commercial Law in November 2018. She has a PhD (2018) and a LL.B with Honours in Scots Law (2003) from the University of Glasgow and a Diploma in Legal Practice (2004) from the Glasgow Graduate School of Law. After completing a legal traineeship, she worked for many years in commercial legal practice as a qualified solicitor specialising in Employment Law.
Her research interests are primarily in the areas of Labour Law and Anti-Discrimination Law. Her PhD thesis considers the exceptions to the equality in employment principle afforded to religious employers in Great Britain. Using comparative and empirical methodologies, she makes a case for applying freedom of association principle to their interpretation.
She teaches both commercial and private law subjects in the School of Law.
Research interests
Catriona’s research interests are primarily in Labour Law and Anti-Discrimination law. She has a particular interest in researching issues pertaining to religion or belief in the workplace and in using empirical and comparative methodologies.
