Consultation, in many forms and for various purposes, is central to the law making process in Scotland, the UK and the EU. How to consult, when to consult, how questions are framed and how responses are analysed shape the policies and laws which result. As lawyers we engage in many consultation processes by submitting our responses and we also engage with the consultation process itself as the focus for research.
