Konstantinos Sergakis appointed to European Supervisory Authorities Board of Appeal

Professor Konstantinos Sergakis has been appointed as a Member of the European Supervisory Authorities (ESMA, EIOPA, EBA) Board of Appeal. The Board is responsible for deciding on appeals against certain decisions of the Authorities and its decisions can themselves be appealed to the Court of Justice of the European Union.

His appointment commenced on 1 December 2021 and will initially be for a five-year period, with a potential extension of a further five years.

Professor Sergakis comments: “I am truly honoured to have been appointed Member of the European Supervisory Authorities (ESMA, EIOPA, EBA) Board of Appeal. The Board was introduced to effectively protect the rights of parties affected by decisions adopted by the Authorities and I am looking forward to contributing to this highly critical public interest mission. I am also pleased that my expertise in pension funds, inter alia in my capacity of advisor at Mefop (Italian Ministry of Finance company in charge of pension funds), has been recognised by EIOPA, whose Management Board appointed me as Member of the Board of Appeal”.
