About the Crichton Institute
We are a hub for research, development and knowledge exchange relating to the social, economic and cultural regeneration of rural areas.
This includes the south west of Scotland where we are based.
We are interested in all aspects of the social, economic and cultural regeneration of rural areas. We take an interdisciplinary approach to understanding issues and offering solutions. Our expertise includes:
- rural economy and skills development
- community development
- place-making
- the impact of demographic change
Our staff work in collaboration with a range of academic and strategic partners on the Crichton University Campus in Dumfries. We also work with national and international partners.
We are led by the University of Glasgow School of Interdisciplinary Studies.
