Research interests
- Office Hours: Tuesday 2pm - 3pm and Thursday 10am - 11am.
- Research Day: Friday
Research interests:
- Political structures of the Carolingian Empire: essentially, this involves the study of how Carolingian hegemony was maintained in the Carolingian empire from Pippin III's accession to the death of Charles the Fat in 888. This will be written up as a book, Carolingian Politics, which is now nearing completion.
- History of Europe 700-900: Vol II of Oxford History of Medieval Europe. This is a long-term project designed to produce a substantial general survey of European history and culture in this period as well as a survey of recent historiographical trends. As a way in to this, I have begun work on a regional case-study. i.e. Bavaria. An article on Duke Tassilo will be forthcoming in the T.R.H.S.
