Research title: Digital Doctrines in Glasgow Museums: Digital interactive technologies and their influence on the relationships, networks and practices of Glasgow Museums, 1989-2019
Research Summary
This research explores how interactive digital technology has been developed, implemented, and used in Glasgow Museums from 1989- 2019. It focuses on the ways that the organisation has sought to use digital approaches to deliver enhanced user engagement, while supporting and facilitating cultural democracy among communities that do not traditionally engage with museums or heritage. The project will investigate Glasgow Museums’ archives and data on community engagement with heritage collections and examine gaps in cultural policy concerning digital use in museums and heritage organisations for this purpose, as defined by local and national government bodies and standardised practice.
