Adriana Alcaraz Sanchez

I’m a part-time MPhil student working in Philosophy of Mind and consciousness. My research lies in the intersection between Philosophy, Psychology and Cognitive Science and aims at investigating experiences of awareness during sleep in absence of dreams. I´m currently preparing my thesis on the minimal phenomenal experience (MPE), a phenomenon that is understood as the experience of bare awareness; an experience with phenomenal character in absence of propositional content. I’m elaborating a definition of what MPE is by looking into a particular case where this phenomenon is reported: dreamless sleep. For this purpose, I’m elaborating a taxonomy of dreamless sleep experiences by analysing previous definitions in literature and contrasting them with reports gathered by experimental subjects.
