Arts and Humanities strengthen top 100 position in global rankings

The University of Glasgow has ranked among the world’s top 100 in four out of 11 subject areas, according to the Times Higher Education’s (THE) annual World Subject Rankings.

The rankings cover 11 subject areas and give an overview of the best places in the world to study a chosen discipline. They rank the University of Glasgow within the top 100 globally in the following subject areas:

  • Arts and Humanities - 79th
  • Clinical, Pre-Clinical and Health - joint 54th
  • Law - 40th
  • Life Sciences - joint 91st

Five subjects improved their position year on year, with Arts and Humanities by seven places, Law rising by one place, and Clinical, Pre-Clinical and Health by two places. Business and Economics moves up three groupings, and Psychology by two groupings.

Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Glasgow, said: “This success is testament to the strength of the teaching we offer, as well as the world-class research activities of our staff.
