Biography

I am a Research Assistant to the Transdisciplinary Research for the Improvement of yoUth Mental Public Health (TRIUMPH) network, a UK-wide research network that brings together young people with academics, health practitioners and policy-makers to find new ways to improve youth mental health and wellbeing.

I provide research support to four TRIUMPH-funded research projects aiming to improve mental health and wellbeing among young people (10-24 years), including the development of research proposals, publications and the management and delivery of projects.

The TRIUMPH network sits within the Complexity In Health programme at the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit, specifically in the 'Education settings' workstream. The Complexity programme recognises that to produce good public health policy and interventions, an understanding of the context and complexity of factors that make up a person's circumstances is essential. Only by understanding how these factors relate to each other can we help reduce health inequalities.

I come from a policy research background, having worked in the UK Parliament as a policy specialist on social security, poverty, inequalities, gender, worker's rights and pensions. I then undertook an MSc Social Research at The University of Edinburgh before joining the TRIUMPH team.
