Biography

Deborah Morrison joined General Practice and Primary Care in 2010 as an Academic Fellow. She graduated from University of Glasgow Medical School in 2005, including completion of an intercalated BSc (MedSci) in clinical neuroscience in 2003. Following foundations placements in Glasgow and surrounding areas, Deborah undertook specialist training in general practice gaining her CCT in July 2010.

During her one year academic fellow placement Deborah successfully applied for a Clinical Academic Fellowship funded by the Chief Scientist Office to undertake a PhD from August 2010. Supervision was provided by Professor Frances Mair, Professor Sally Wyke, Professor Neil C Thomson, and Dr Alex McConnachie. This project was entitled Supporting Self Care for Asthma – Development and Evaluation of an Online Resource. Deborah gained her PhD in June 2016.

Deborah has a portfolio career. She is working as a GP in a Deep End practice in Robroyston, Glasgow (http://www.glenmillmedicalcentre.scot.nhs.uk) and for the Youth Health Service in Drumchapel. Deborah also works as a GP with special interest in secondary care diabetes clinics 2 mornings a week.

  • Mixed methods primary care based health research, focussing on asthma and self management
  • Evaluations of complex interventions, including process evaluations and randomised controlled trials
