Petra Meier appointed as Professor of Public Health

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Petra Meier as Professor of Public Health.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Petra Meier as Professor of Public Health. Petra will lead a new programme of Systems Science research at the Unit, which will build on and extend the policy-focused work of the UKPRP-funded SIPHER Consortium (Systems Science in Public Health and Health Economics Research). 

Petra studied psychology at the University of Heidelberg in Germany, before completing an MSc in Research in Child Health (University of Hertfordshire), followed by a PhD in Epidemiology & Health Sciences at the University of Manchester. She was a lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University prior to joining the University of Sheffield in 2006, where she was Professor of Public Health and founded and directed the Sheffield Alcohol Research Group. Petra will officially join the Unit at the end of July 2020.
