Health needs assessment report
People with learning disabilities
In 2004, NHS Health Scotland published the Health Needs Assessment Report. People with Learning Disabilities in Scotland. Professor Cooper chaired the reference group that prepared the report on behalf of NHS Health Scotland. Several members of the UCEDD contributed to it's development
The report provides a comprehensive review of the research evidence on the health and well-being of people with learning disabilities. There is a description of recent developments in services for people with learning disabilities nationally and internationally. Based on the evidence gathered during the process of preparing the report, 25 recommendations were made, to reduce the health inequalities experienced by people with learning disabilities.
