Biography

Dr Zhugen Yang is a Lecturer and UK NERC Research Fellow in the School of Engineering. His NERC fellowship focuses on lab-on-a-paper for tracking microbial source to improve water quanlity, together with industry partner Scottish Water. His research focuses on the development of low cost sensors and devices (e.g. paper-based device) for rapid diagnostics, environment sicence and public health (e.g. community sewage sensors).

Research Interests

The research focuses on development of sensors and devices (such as optical, electrochemical, mass-sensitive) to address biomedical and environmental issues, for example, rapid diagnosis of infectious disease using paper-origami device, monitoring of water quality and public health, multiplexed sensing for high-throuput detection. The research topics include:
