Research title: Implementing Technology-enhanced English Language Teaching with Music at Preschools in China: Students’ Experience, Engagement and Performance
As a teacher with more than five years of English teaching experience in different early education institutions in China, I have found that the learning characteristics and cognitive process of students in this age group are not fully recognized by many early education institutions in their English education practice.
One of the facts attract my attention, English teachers are likely to ignore or skip the chants if they are given in the textbooks. At the same time, the actuality is that ICT infrastructure is used by China’s kindergarten teachers at an extremely low levels and frequencies.
The project is aimed at bridging this gap by examining the implementation of enhanced-technology and music class in teaching English in kindergarten in China. Specifically, it explores students’ experience, engagement and performance in developing language skills and communication skills. It is hoped that recommendations and guidance for implementation of this teaching approach would be obtained based on actual experience.
