Hana Butorova shortlisted in the Scottish Charity Awards for Employee of the Year
We are delighted that Hana Butorova, one our PGRs in the School of Education, has been shortlisted in the Scottish Charity Awards for Employee of the Year.
Hana leads the Citywise programme which supports vulnerable children in the east end of Glasgow. The programme pairs children with adult mentors to engage in a range of activities to support character and skill development. Hana is the Programmes Director for the charity and is responsible for developing the curriculum and delivering the project.
Hana’s PhD is exploring the impact that the project has, both on the young people it supports, and on the adult mentors who assist with the programme. This knowledge will help improve not just Citywise but provide learning for other projects too.
During the pandemic Hana continually adapted the Citywise sessions - digital, outdoor, socially distanced - whatever it took to ensure no child was left behind. Hana says: “I am so grateful that Citywise and the work we are doing is getting some recognition. Everyone in the Citywise family deserves this - the staff, the incredible volunteers who continue to give so much of their time, our school partners who have been so flexible, and most importantly the children who have shown so much resilience and who are a joy to work with.”
We are so proud of Hana’s achievement and look forward to the awards ceremony which will be held on the 15th June in the Crowne Plaza. Well done Hana!
