Prof Evelyn Arizpe was selected to serve as a member of the 2022 Hans Christian Andersen Award Jury. The Hans Christian Andersen Award is the highest international distinction given to authors and illustrators of books for young people and is open to creators around the world. This distinction was first awarded 64 years ago (1956) and since then has been given every other year by the International Board of Books for Children and Young People, IBBY. The Hans Christian Andersen Awards recognize lifelong achievement and are given to an author and an illustrator whose complete works have made an important and lasting contribution to literature for young people.
The jury comprises 10 members from all over the world (Lebanon, Spain, Canada, Slovenia, South Korea, Australia, France, Argentina and Finland) and this year includes writers, researchers, storytellers, poets, librarians, editors and translators. The award ceremony will be during the 2022 Congress in Malaysia.
