Currently, I’m a research assistant working on the H2020 HAPPINESS (Haptic Printed Patterned Interfaces for Sensitive Surfaces) project (http://www.happiness-project.eu/). This project collaborates with partners across Europe from research institutes (CEA and INRIA) and industry (Arkema, Robert BOSCH Gmbh, GAIKER and WPAK). The main aim of the HAPPINESS project is to develop novel haptic and interactive surfaces for next generation in-car infotainment systems and interiors. Our role in this project is to understand the driver’s needs and design more effective interaction techniques with haptic feedback capabilities on touchscreens and touch-surfaces in order to reduce the level of distractions when input is required in driving situations. We have and will continue to evaluate our research ideas using driving simulators and inside a moving vehicle driven around the city.
