Research summary

Is J. S. Bach a compositional theorist?

Since the late eighteenth century, J. S. Bach’s music has had a unique influence on the development of music theory and composition pedagogy. Covering approximately the period 1500-1830, my research looks at the changing nature of music theory, and the factors that led to J. S. Bach being regarded as the father of Western music, in the nineteenth century.
