A creative industries policy workshop was held on 23 September at The Lighthouse in Glasgow. The workshop was set up to feed a range of views from Scotland into the creative industries research project at Queen Mary University London, which is comparing policy in the UK and Brazil. Twenty speakers contributed. They came from government, cultural agencies, the creative industries and academia. By raising some key questions about power relations in the creative industries in the digital age, the workshop directly informed the future research agenda of the UK Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre (PEC). Researchers based at two UofG centres, CREATe and CCPR, are part of the PEC’s UK-wide consortium. The workshop was organised and chaired by Philip Schlesinger, Professor in Cultural Theory, with administrative assistance from both the Glasgow centres.
