SCMH Athena Swan Silver Award!
We were delighted to find out that the SCMH have been successful in achieving the Silver Athena SWAN award. Dr Paul Welsh, now chair of the Athena Swan Committee, thanked everyone on the SAT committee for their contributions and comments, it really was a tremendous team effort. As well as being an important initiative for SCMH generally, it is an important component of our culture for the REF return.
The SCMH Athena Swan committee will be revamped in the coming weeks and a call for new members will be put out. Please do consider joining this group; the philosophy is very much around trying to help address bottlenecks and career progression issues for all staff and students.
To celebrate this fantastic news we held a coffee morning on Monday 4th November where colleagues enjoyed some refreshments included personalised Athena Swan Cupcakes!
We also heard speeches from Professor Rhian Touyz and Dr Paul Welsh who thanked everyone for their hard work and vision for the future.
It was a lovely time to get together and celebrate our achievement and look towards the future. We also enjoyed the presentation showing our achievements and how we were able to achieve our award.
