"It’s great to be back at Glasgow Royal Infirmary in my new role as Clinical Lecturer in Geriatric MedicineWelcome . Whilst I have worked on projects in the past within the department of Academic Geriatric Medicine, this is my first appointment within SCMH and I am excited to get started.

I did my undergraduate medical degree at the University of Aberdeen, graduating in 2009.  I went on to do my foundation training years in clinical medicine in the West of Scotland, initially at Stobhill Hospital then rotating through the NHS Lanarkshire hospitals.

After a period of working in medicine in Australia, I returned to the West of Scotland to do my core medical training.  During this time, I had my first opportunity to work within the Academic Geriatric Medicine department at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and developed an interest in cognitive disorders, leading a project on predictive factors in delirium.

I commenced my registrar training in Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine in 2015.

I took up a Clinical Research Fellowship in Neurodegenerative Disorders at the University of Edinburgh in 2018, based within the National Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease Research and Surveillance Unit, Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences.  I am currently writing up my MD thesis on the clinical correlation between sporadic Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease and other neurodegenerative conditions in older adults.  During my time in Edinburgh, I established successful collaborations with clinical academics from other centres, which has been extremely valuable.

Whilst clinical duties have taken priority during the coronavirus pandemic, I eagerly anticipate the challenge of my future work within SCMH.  I hope to engage with colleagues and other researchers within the University, using my skills and experience I have gained so far, to collaborate on future projects."
