Biography
Dr Nixon is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist specialising in the treatment of Head and Neck cancers and soft tissue and bone sarcomas at the Beatson oncology Centre, Glasgow, UK. She is clinical Lead for the National Scottish Sarcoma Network since 2015 and also a member of the NCRI Head and Neck Clinical Research Group. She has been rewarded with a PhD in Radiotherapy in 2013 and an MPH in 2015.
She has a particular focus on the management of patients requiring complex radiotherapy, conformal high precision radiotherapy for head and neck tumours and adults with soft tissue and bone tumours. She also specialises in combined chemoradiation treatment for Head and Neck tumours, as well as targeted therapies and immunotherapy treatment for Head and Neck cancers.
She has published in the area of conformal radiation techniques and is actively involved in clinical research in Head and Neck Cancers and Sarcomas.
She is a member of National and International societies including the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer, British Head and Neck Group and is national sarcoma Lead for Scotland.
