Adam Smith Scholar Award for Excellence
The Adam Smith Scholar Award for Excellence rewards students with the highest levels of scholarly performance, which supports the School’s vision, mission and values. The Award recognises students awarded with a 1st Class Honours degree or a Masters with Distinction that have excelled academically, demonstrated intellectual inquisitiveness and shown their potential to contribute significantly in their chosen fields.

The Adam Smith Scholar Award for Excellence recognises those students who have distinguished themselves by demonstrating academic excellence, engagement and innovation.

Criteria for the award
Students who achieve an outstanding overall result, for example have gained a 1st Class Honours degree or a Masters with Distinction, in their programme will be eligible for the award. Awarded annually, the Adam Smith Scholar for Excellence Award will recognise your hard work throughout your academic studies.
The Adam Smith Scholar Award of Excellence recognises outstanding achievements by undergraduate students who receive a 1st Class Honours degree and excel academically, demonstrate intellectual inquisitiveness and show their potential to contribute significantly in their chosen fields.
Eligible students from the Class of 2019 were invited to attend an event hosted by Professor John Finch, Head of School, on Wednesday 26 June 2019, where they were presented with a certificate celebrating their achievement. A photograph taken to mark the occasion is above.
Postgraduate taught students
The Adam Smith Scholar Award of Excellence recognises postgraduate taught students whose overall performance in their master’s year of the programme awarded a Masters of Distinction. Student’s overall results are ranked by programme and subject area according to the year of the final degree award.
