Application of statistical analysis in economic consulting

On 7th November 2014, the Adam Smith Business School welcomed Dr George Bagdatoglou, Manager of Econometrics at Deloitte, UK, as a guest speaker of the Practitioner seminars. Dr Bagdatoglou talked about Application of statistical analysis in economic consulting to Economics and Accounting & Finance students.

Dr Bagdatoglou holds a PhD in Economics from Brunel University and has more than 10 years of experience working in various economic consultancies. Currently, he is manager at Economic Consulting, Deloitte, where he applies econometric analysis across different industries to address business and public sector questions. Before joining Deloitte, Dr Bagdatoglou worked at Timberlake Consultants where he was responsible for the delivery of training courses in econometrics and statistics to commercial, government and academic organisations.

Empirical economics and statistics are now extensively applied by various economic consultancies including Deloitte. The purpose of the talk was to give students a flavour of the type of projects carried out by economic consultancies.
