Beta Gamma Sigma induction January 2018

The Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) Induction Ceremony in January, saw 26 undergraduate students inducted to become BGS members and join more than 810k members around the world.

At the event in the Gilbert Scott building, Professor John Finch, head of Adam Smith Business School and BGS Glasgow Chapter President, gave a speech. He presented the students with membership certificates and the key of Beta Gamma Sigma, a symbol of the ideals of Honour, Wisdom and Earnestness, upon which BGS was founded.

Claire Marston, Student VP of Programming spoke about what it meant to receive a full travel scholarship from the Business School and BGS, and her experience attending the Orlando BGS Global Leadership Summit in November 2017. And Camilla Kjaer, Student President of BGS updated attendees on the Glasgow Chapter’s progress and announced the School’s commitment to partially fund six BGS students for an Ethical Leadership Certification Program.

The ceremony was followed by a dinner and networking.

University of Glasgow Adam Smith Business School is one of just five other UK universities who has a Beta Gamma Sigma chapter. The BGS Collegiate Chapter enables the Business School to work more closely with AACSB to enhance its student and alumni experience. Of the thousands of students that complete their business degree, only the best qualify for membership in the Beta Gamma Sigma Society.

This recognition of academic excellence is benefitting the School and its students through:

  • Opportunities for further studies and employment
  • Opportunities for student leadership and community service
  • Increased connection to a global network of top scholars and business leaders.
