Speaker biography

Martin has lived and worked in Shetland for 32 years, for the last 14 years as manager of Shetland Seafood Auctions which oversees the sale of more than £35 million worth of fish annually through Shetland’s fish markets.

Prior to that he worked in the aquaculture industry as a director of two locally owned salmon farming companies, as a financial controller in the oil services industry, and as a temporary accountant in Shetland Islands Council.

Martin is a qualified accountant (Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants). He also serves on the board of SSQC Ltd, an independent quality assurance company in Shetland and is a trustee of Shetland Fisheries Training Centre Trust which governs the NAFC Marine Centre UHI. He also represented Shetland interests on the Domestic and Export Panel of Seafish from 2013 to 2017.
