Speaker biography

Sean Hundtofte is a Financial Economist in Research & Statistics Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, with research interests in household finance, real estate, banking, and behavioural economics. Sean obtained his Ph.D. in Financial Economics from Yale University in 2016. Prior to his doctoral studies, Sean managed mortgage and specialty finance investments at Värde Partners (a large distressed investment firm), worked in portfolio management at Bridgewater Associates, on a capital structure arbitrage trading desk at Barclays Capital in London, and in fixed income research at Lehman Brothers in New York. Prior to that, he was a computer scientist working on topics in Pattern Recognition and Human-Computer/Human-Robot Interaction. He originally got his undergraduate degree in Computing Science from the University of Glasgow.
