Glasgow Talks welcomed Donalda MacKinnon, Director at BBC Scotland, as guest speaker. Reporting through the BBC’s Nations and Regions Division, Donalda MacKinnon became Director, Scotland in December 2016. Donalda took up her new leadership role for the BBC in Scotland as the BBC’s new Charter begans.

Formerly Head of Programmes and Services for BBC Scotland, Donalda MacKinnon was the senior editorial figure with accountability for BBC Scotland content on radio, television and online. She also line-managed the Director of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. She shared, with network colleagues, accountability for programmes and content commissioned from and made by BBC in-house and Independent Production teams for BBC UK network television, radio and online. She also set editorial priorities and strategies for Scotland in line with wider BBC strategy and led a team of commissioning and production Heads in BBC Scotland. Donalda oversaw Partnerships and external relationships on behalf of the BBC in Scotland and will continue to be sponsor of the BBC’s presence at the Edinburgh Festivals.
A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, she completed a post-graduate diploma and began her career as a teacher before joining the BBC. She is an alumnus of the Windsor Leadership Trust and alongside continuous personal development has undertaken leadership training at Ashridge Business School and at Stanford Research Institute, California, USA.
