Since the 2008 credit crunch, Working Capital Management has become a top priority for most companies. Since financing operations has become more challenging, companies are now looking for solutions in collaboration with their value chain partners. This has led to an increased interest and application of Supply Chain Finance (SCF), which includes the role of financial service providers.
dr.ir. Ronald de Boer is one of the few leading experts in Europe on Supply Chain Management and Finance. The research group is especially active in finding alternative solutions to make supply chains more financially resilient. The activities have not only led to new applications but also to integration in teaching, such as the Global Student Challenge; please note that a group of four students from the Adam Smith Business School participated in the final round of this challenge.
Major pitfalls, risks and lessons learned from implementation of SCF was also addressed during this event in addition to the presentation of some innovative SCF solutions.
