Specialist Lecture Series with Mr Setyono Djuandi Darmono

The University of Glasgow was delighted to welcome Mr Setyono Djuandi Darmono, Founder and President Director of PT Jababeka Tbk, as the next guest speaker of the Adam Smith Business School's Specialist Lecture Series. 

Mr Darmono focussed his lecture on the progress of Indonesia from colonisation to the world’s 3rd largest democracy in 70 years. Other topics covered in this lecture included the challenges the country faces in the 21st century.

Mr Setyono Djuandi Darmono is the Founder and President Director of PT Jababeka Tbk, the largest industrial area developer in Southeast Asia. Founder and Chair of the Indonesia Taiwan Business Council (ITBC) Mr Darmono also serves as an Advisor at the Indonesia Australia Business Council (IABC). Through his pioneering development work he has built Kota Jababeka and created jobs and homes for millions of people in Cikarang, Indonesia. He is recognised for creating major infrastructure and services for education, healthcare, hospitals and schools under the President University Foundation.

In his effort to help the country create employment through the creation of industrial estates, Mr Darmono received support from the President of Indonesia, Jokowi Widodo to form a consortium and collaboration between 34 provinces in Indonesia and foreign investors to develop 100 cities in Indonesia.
