Staff and alumni from the University of Glasgow got together on Saturday 14 January to enjoy the British Council’s annual Alumni Award Ceremony and Grand Reunion event in Bangkok.

The ceremony is held to celebrate the outstanding achievements of alumni and showcase the impact and value of a UK higher education. Award winners and finalists are leaders in their fields who have used their experience of studying at a UK university to make a positive contribution to their communities, professions and countries. Awards are made in three categories; Professional Achievement, Entrepreneurialism and Social Impact.

The University was delighted to be able to support its alumnus, Kittinand Pithayapriechagul (MSc Investment Fund Management, 2014), who was selected as a finalist in the entrepreneurial category for his work as co-founder of the Dreamaker crowdfunding platform. Dreamaker is a reward and equity-based platform, which has raised over 56m Thai Baht (around £1.3m) for projects it has supported.

Joining Kittinand and his guests on the evening was a contingent of alumni from the University of Glasgow, along with Elaine Lew, Regional Manager for South East Asia in the University’s Marketing, Recruitment and International Office and Dr Stephan von Delft, International Lead in the Adam Smith Business School.

Facing stiff competition from other finalists, Kittinand’s bid to win in his category was unfortunately unsuccessful. However, we would like to express on behalf of everyone in the Adam Smith Business School and The University of Glasgow, just how proud we are to be associated with alumni of the calibre of Kittinand and congratulate him on his magnificent achievements, in getting selected as a finalist and for raising such a huge amount of money for worthy causes. Thanks also to all those alumni who gave up their time to come along to offer their support.
