Hayley HainingHayley graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1995 and then spent almost three years in general practice before returning to Glasgow to complete a Masters degree studying Johne’s disease in cattle. She then completed a PhD studying the pathogenesis of field isolates of feline immunodeficiency virus. Hayley joined the Clinical Pathology team in 2003 as a registrar, gained FRCPath in Clinical Pathology is 2010 and became a senior clinician in Veterinary Clinical Pathology in 2016. Her interests include haematology, cytology and customer care for service users. Current research interests include equine hepatic fibrosis.

Elspeth Waugh, BSc, BVMS, MSc, PhD, MRCVS

Elspeth WaughElspeth graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2005, with the addition of an intercalated degree in Veterinary Pathology from the Royal Veterinary College. She completed a year’s internship at the Small Animal Hospital, University of Glasgow, before spending three years in general practice. She returned to the Glasgow to complete a Masters degree followed by a PhD studying the molecular characterisation of canine lymphoma.  She became part of Clinical Pathology in 2014 as a resident, becoming a Clinician in Veterinary Clinical pathology in 2016 and is currently studying towards the FRCPath qualification.  She enjoys all aspects of clinical pathology, particularly cytology, and continues to have active research interests in canine lymphoma, including improved diagnostic testing and the involvement of genetic changes in pathogenesis.
