Hepatitis C virus (HCV) research UK

HCV Research UK is a consortium of leading players from the UK's HCV clinical and scientific communities. It has established a national clinical research database and a bank of samples (biobank) for promoting research studies into HCV infection.

The consortium has been funded by the Medical Research Foundation (MRF) to investigate questions that are critical for understanding key issues associated with HCV infection such as what factors determine spontaneous clearance of the virus, evaluation of responses to drug therapy, and the mechanisms behind the development of liver diseases including cirrhosis and liver cancer.

The CVR is a major contributor to this consortium as well as holding the biobank, it has embarked on a number of related research activities.  The CVR's work in this consortium is led by Prof. John Mclauchlan.
